Fast Track Method To Install An Excel Add-In

Click or go to the Developer tab

Click the Excel Add-ins button

If the Addin is listed, ensure the check box is ticked and go to step 7

Click the Browse button

File Explorer opens in the default Microsoft add-in folder.
Navigate to the correct folder, if this is not where you installed the software

Find and select your add-in file and ensure the check box is ticked

Click OK
-
The add-in is now installed! The Top ribbon should contain the "SmartXUser" menu item and when clicked you should see the Icon(s) for the software you just installed.
Traditional Method To Install An Excel Add-in

Click Excel File menu item
-
Click Options
-
Click AddIns
-
Ensure Excel Add-ins is selected and click GO

Click the Browse button
-
File Explorer opens in the default Microsoft add-in folder.
Navigate to the correct folder, if this is not where you installed the software

Find and select your add-in file and ensure the check box is ticked

Click OK

The add-in is now installed! The Top ribbon should contain the "SmartXUser" menu item and when clicked you should see the Icon(s) for the software you just installed.
Temporarily Stop An Add-In Running
Unloading an Add-In is the method used to simply stop an Add-in from being loaded for a period of time, without losing it altogether.
Follow the steps above to the point of:
"Find and select your add-in file and ensure the checkbox is ticked"
And change the checkbox to unselected (empty).
The add-in disappears from the ribbon menu and will no longer be loaded when Excel is started.
Permanently Stop An Add-In Running
Uninstalling an Add-In is the method used to remove an Add-in altogether.

Close all Excel sessions (Excel must not be running for the next steps)

Go to the folder that contains the Add-in file.
The folder and file name of the currently running Smart Excel User Add-In can be found in the Configuration Window - see below.

Delete the Add-In file (.xlam)

Open Excel (Excel may display a message that it did not find the Add-In)

Follow the steps above to the point of:
"Find and select your add-in file and ensure the checkbox is ticked"

Try to check or uncheck the add-in name. You should get a message that the add-in could not be found and asking if you would like to remove it from the add-in list.

Confirm that you want it removed.
